Pinkan Island

Description

For the contest over at #The-MEW-Club We had to create a myth involving Mew and do both a drawing and a story about it. Just experimenting with a more simplistic style this time; not sure if I like the final results but oh well.

The myth is that Mew created the Pinkan berries (from the anime), which make other pokemon pink.

Here's the written part!
"Hidden and protected by dangerous whirlpools, Pinkan Island is one of the most impressive places in Kanto. It gets its name from the Pinkan berries, which can only be found within the island. These berries are no ordinary fruit, though. After continuously eating these berries, pokemon turn pink.

The origin of this berry is still unknown, but legend says that the ancient pokemon Mew is the culprit. The greatest researchers and explorers believe that it was actually an accident and not Mew’s intention. They believe that Mew must have somehow arrived to the island, which was, of course, full of delicious Pinkan berries; however, these were not the berries we know today, but normal berries with no magical properties to them. Seeing as the island was only inhabited by pokemon and not bothered by people (because the whirlpools blocked any access), Mew decided to stay.

As you know, Mew is a pokemon of incredible power, and many pokemon professors believe that it’s not possible for such a small pokemon to successfully contain so much power. They believe that for Mew to be able to function correctly, it must release vast amounts of energy everyday.

You see, since Mew lived for so many years in the island, it must have freed huge amounts of energy into the island during that time. The earth absorbed this energy, and so did the trees, when feeding through their roots. In turn, this new-gathered energy altered the chemical properties of the fruits grown by the trees (the Pinkan berries), turning them pink in color. Thus the pokemon, when eating the berries, absorbed this energy and also gained the pink pigments, which have become unique to the island."

Hope you like it! :D
